Biography
Keiko Wilkins is a marine biologist and recent PhD graduate from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa within the Marine Biology Graduate Program. She was a research assistant within the Richmond Laboratory at Kewalo Marine Laboratory. Her dissertation research explored the effects of microplastics and their associated-chemicals on coral reef reproduction and resilience. She previously earned her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Biology from Miami University (Oxford, OH) exploring zooplankton community trends in lakes within the Pocono Mountains (Lake Ariel, PA). In addition to her research, Keiko is passionate about serving as a role model for underrepresented students. She previously served as the Community Coordinator for Black Women in Ecology, Evolution and Marine Science and a Co-Chair for the North American Lake Management Society's: Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion program. In her free time, you can find her exploring the coral while scuba diving or completing a jigsaw puzzle.
